Multimedia Support for Students
To provide schools an efficient tool in the learning process aimed at the achievement of a European certificate, the British Institutes has created the “OneWay” multimedia course, the syllabi of which correspond to the Common European Framework levels A1, A2, B1, B1+ and B2, with over 90 hours of self-study material for the first three levels and 60 hours for levels B1+ and B2.
The first three levels are dedicated to General English: situations typical of our everyday private lives, at school or at work, presented in a way that stimulates the student’s curiosity and interest.
The B1+ and B2 levels have as their main objective to enable the student to learn English. The English language becomes an aid to the acquisition of intercultural knowledge applicable to communication in a work environment. The B1+ and B2 "OneWay" CD-ROMs provide both a learning system specifically created for students, which teaches interaction skills in intercultural situations applicable to everyday life and to the workplace, as well as a learning method for the corporate world, more focused on “business” topics.
Through the OneWay CD-ROMs, it is possible to practise and consolidate Reading, Writing and Listening abilities; each unit features situations that could typically be experienced in an English-speaking country. The logical/syntactic structures contained in the video clips are always explained and examined in detail both in the writing and in the listening exercises and then finally reinforced through reading.
The multimedia courses have been awarded the European LABEL granted by the Italian Ministry of Education, the Italian Ministry of Employment and the European Commission, as well as the e-Content Award 2006 and 2007 in the e-Learning Category.
The “OneWay” multimedia courses offer:
- great independence to students
- a high level of personalisation and management of study programmes with minimum logistical constraints
They can be used:
- in the Language Laboratory
- individually in the comfort of one's home
“OneWay” can optimise the potential and flexibility of self-learning activities.
The British Institutes multimedia course is useful as a tool to improve expressive skills, to increase both written and spoken comprehension and for to fill any existing learning gaps, enabling the student to reach the minimum level required to ensure that his/her classroom attendance will be productive.
